Chaukhandi Stupa
The Chaukhandi Stupa marks a deeply significant moment in the Buddha’s journey: his first encounter with the five ascetics after his enlightenment. Located near Sarnath, this is where the Buddha reunited with the very disciples who had once turned away from him. Their meeting laid the foundation for the first teachings that would soon follow.
Today, the structure stands tall with a Mughal-style octagonal tower added in the 16th century by Emperor Akbar, commemorating his father’s visit. Though time has weathered its outer form, the spirit of this meeting place continues to resonate. Visitors are drawn here to reflect on moments of reconnection, understanding, and the beginnings of a spiritual revolution.
සම්මුඛ චේතිය - චෞකරාදි ස්ථුපය
පස්වග තවුසන් වැඩ සිටි ස්ථානය වේ. භාග්යවතුන් වහන්සේ උරුවෙල් දනව්වේ දුෂ්කක්රියා කොට එයින් කිසිදු ප්රතිඵලයක් නොදැක දුෂ්ක්රක්රියාව අතැර ආහාර ගැනීමට පටන් ගන්නා ලදී. බෝධි සත්වයෝ පිණ්ඩපාතය වළදා කය සතපනු දුටු පස්වග මහණුන් උන්වහන්සේ ප්රධාන වීර්ය අතහැර නිවන් මගින් ඈත් වී ශරීර සුව සොයන බව පවසා රාජ කුමාරයින් සැපතට කැමතිය. තපස් කම් කිරීමට නොහැකියැයි වරදවා තේරුම් ගෙන සිත් කල කිරවා ගෙන උන් වහන්සේ අතහැර බරණැස ඉසිපතනයට පැමිණ මෙම ස්ථානයේ ආවාස සාදාගෙන සිටියාය.බුදුරදුන් මෙම ස්ථානයට පැමිණ තවුසන් සමග කරන ලද සාකච්ඡාවෙන් පසුව බුදු වූ බව ඔවුන් පිළිගත් බැවින් මංගල ධර්ම දේශනය සදහා රාජිකාරාම පිහිටි ස්ථානයට වැඩි සේක. පස්වග තවුසන් හමු වූ මෙම ස්ථානයේ ගොඩනගා ඇති චෛත්යයේ සියලු වස්තුව සොරාගෙන චෛත්යය ඇතුලට යා නොහැකි වන සේ වසා දමා ඇත. චෛත්ය උඩ ඇති ගඩොල් කුළුන ක්රි.ව 1588 දී අක්බාර් මෝගල් අධිරාජ්යයා විසින් කරවන ලද්දකි.
